The French National Frequencies Agency has installed autonomous exposure measurement sensors in several of France’s major cities to monitor changes in exposure with the arrival of 5G.
In operation since early March 2020 in Nantes and Marseille, these sensors have been placed close to 5G antennas under test. Other sensors have also been installed in Paris since 13 November and in Bordeaux since 8 December 2020. Now it’s Mulhouse’s turn to take part in this pilot scheme, based on the deployment of 3 sensors positioned on street furniture in the heart of the town centre.
As with the residents of the first towns to benefit from the EMF Observatory, residents of Mulhouse who so wish will be able to access all the results measured continuously at www.emf-observatory.com.
This system, the result of an R&D project designed and developed by EXEM, is designed to help local authorities provide answers to questions from the general public about their exposure to electromagnetic fields. It is based on the deployment of a network of very low-speed communicating sensors that make the data accessible as and when required (several measurements are taken daily).
In the context of the rapid digital transformation of our society, the EMF Observatory is an impartial and reliable tool for shedding light on the societal debate that pits economic development against environmental and public health concerns.
