Brussels, the first European city to join the EMF Observatory

Publié le 2 November 2021

As with the residents of the first French cities to benefit from the EMF Observatory, since the beginning of November the people of Brussels have had continuous access to all the results of measurements of levels of exposure to electromagnetic fields, via the website www.emf-observatory.com . 40 sensors have been installed in the south of the Brussels conurbation to monitor fluctuations in exposure levels over time.

The "STOEMP" project

In Brussels, the measurements are being carried out as part of the “STOEMP” research project funded by INNOVIRIS and led by the Université Libre de Bruxelles, the Université catholique de Louvain and Bruxelles-Environnement.

The aim of the project is to provide the Brussels administration with additional tools for preventing and controlling exposure to electromagnetic fields associated with the development of wireless telecommunications.

Brussels is an important step in the deployment of the eEMF Observatory proposed by EXEM, as it is the very first European city to have this monitoring system, paving the way for international development.
